I'm addicted to the sps color. I wanna leave them on rack to make sure they are good and happy before gluing onto the rockwork

man i tested my water this morning.
8.9DKH
CA 420
PO4 2ppb or 0.006 ppm
No3 no detection!

My algae on rocks is going away help from tangs. glass is getting dirtier i gotta clean more often

I can not get the dang nitrate to show. i feel i feed alot.. i tapped skimmer to slightly skim dryer.. small adjustment.
I bought Potassium Nitrate mixed it. and even put 2ml in tank which with calculator would in theory raise my 110 gallons about .25ppm.. i tested 3 hours later and still no detection on my red sea pro kit.. before i went to work i fired in another 2ml of my mixed no3 and ill test again in morning....

Why can i not get nitrate to show.. im trying to get some for my dang SPS acros i just got.. i really dont want to dose ... but man i cant get even slightest pink tint on test kit. i dont want to turn off skimmer.. i like the idea of keeping tank oxygenated!.

So, update my own journal for myself.

First all my fish I've has are all alive. Look great. My two tangs from humble are alive. Look good.

Corals. Ehhh. Something took a turn to even my lps ive had that were doing good. Slowly losing alot. If not all are toast. slowly degrading. I'm expecting to lose it all. Except my torch still looks happy. All the sps frags I tried out are toast. They kind of instally go down hill in a week. Turn white.

I thought it was my lights to bright. I turned my true uv channel down to 24%. An all swing maybe. But now its dialed in at 8.0dkh stable. At first I had 0 po4 and 0 no3. Now I have 6 to 10ppm no3 and detectable po4. Still failing sps frags and lps look bad could be something from the past that is still showing..

I sent in a ati icp test. Everything looked great. Except iodine was 0. Rodi icp came back pure untectable everything. So I know that ia good.

THE ONLY ODD THING was they had salinity at 31.35psu. My milkwaukee showed 1.025. I immediately ordered a veegee stx3 refractometer to compare. I used Randy's calculations to make 35ppt calibration fluid.

So I was getting low 32psu in my reef. I took calibration 35ppt and tested my milkwaukee and it was 1.028. So it makes sense I was mixing water at 1.025 and it really was 1.022. Since then I made 2 25g waterchanges with official 35psu water and I have 25g more to change today. After the two changes I'm currently now at 33.8psu. That being said later today I expect to be slightly over 34psu. And will continue to do WC until my aquarium hits 35psu on the dot.

I'm hoping this helps or allows the murder of sps frags and some LPs not doing to hot to finally stop.

I lowered my lighting so par is 200s. Nothing in 300 so lighting shouldnt be to intense for frags.

Sorry to hear about all the troubles. :(
Well just hoping it takes a turn for the better.

I'm hoping the salinity is a huge part of it because it's a easy fix

up the tank some. I figured it would be better for future sps

I like the scape change! and the pintail.
I'm hoping this opens up more for water movement and help get rid of the little GHA that came back. And the dam cyano

After a 15g WC and siphoning as much green sand as I can and blowing off algae on rocks. Tank look great today. Well see how long it lasts. Seems and feels like a second dam tank cycle since raising my salinity to correct level. But a clean look. I think I prefer this rock look. More open and more ways to glue acros to sides to get dimension.

I must admit. I'm ready to throw a hammer against my tank. This cyano all of a sudden is killing me. I cut back feeding alot. Most importantly. My nutrients arent even high. No3 is 4 or under and po4 is so low sometimes comes out 0ppb on hanna ulr low checker. I removed a bunch of rock to open up the tank. Siphoned hella sand out nmand today. Pinkish is coming back and green slime back on the sand and some parts of rocks. This is absolutely crazy. I can blow off the rocks. 2 times a day. But it comes back

My understanding is that cyano is generally a flow issue, not necessarily a nutrient issue. Do you have a spare powerhead that you could point at the problem areas to see if that helps?

Also, the one time I had cyano, I used ChemiClean and that took care of it in one dose. Hasn't come back.

Cyano grows in high flow areas for me like right on powerheads. I get it if I have too much debris...even if 0 po4 and nitrate.

I pull my sand bed sometimes and wash in tap or old tank water then replace it. Just did it a week ago. It's work though.... usually do it every 6 months-ish. It's a habit at this point from having nano tanks but it generally clears any cyano right up for me.

Finally got my custom pod/chaeto box that slides in my skimmer section. The way it's made it has slots on 2 sides to allow water in and out. The box goes all the way up so lightspill doesn't happen. Only thing is the light glows out the slot cut outs whiich illuminates my skimmer. Not sure if there's a fix. Hopefully it's not enough to grow algae in skimmer.

This is the real color. Don't look at the bryopsis.
