Consolidating tanks

Users who are viewing this thread

This might be a bit long, but we are looking for some advice on consolidating tanks.

We currently have a 125, a deep blue 80, and a 40 cube. How large of a tank do you think we would need to house all of our fish together without territorial problems? Who do you think we would need to rehome? We can't go stupid big, max maybe 220-250 so realistically some of the wrasses and basslets would probably have to go. 😫

Our current stock list:
(yes we are suckers for basslets and wrasses)
😆

125 -
pair of blue mandarins
pair of black storm clownfish
1 chalk bass
1 royal gramma
1 forktail blenny
1 male yellow flanked fairy wrasse
1 male carpenter wrasse
1 male yellow wrasse (chrysus)
1 Christmas wrasse (claudia)
1 tiger wardii goby
1 purple firefish
1 red firefish
1 springer damsel

80 -
1 black cap basslet
1 chalk bass
1 male red head solon fairy wrasse
1 male carpenter wrasse
1 male yellow & purple wrasse (leucoxanthus)
1 Christmas wrasse (claudia)
1 pearly jawfish
1 helfrichi firefish

40 -
pair of ocellaris clownfish
1 6 line wrasse (I really don't think we would put him in a tank where he could never be caught) 😆

We have coral too but not enough to even come close to filling a 220 so no worries there.

If you're still with me, thanks for reading and for any advice you might have to offer. 👍

I wouldn't mix the firefish or the clowns. I would only do 1 Christmas wrasse and 1 carpenter wrasse. And I wouldn't add the sixline. Everything else will be fine, and should work in the 125.

This is what I assumed would be the case. Thank you very much for your input. I think we are going to try and find a 220, rehome a carpenter, firefish, and Christmas wrasse, then introduce everyone else at the same time. 🤞 The ocellaris will get to stay in their own tank. They are the fish we started with and we hope the have them with us until the end. The female is just a you know what and does much better with just her male and the wrassehole lol
Thanks again 👍

That isnt bad at all! Glad that you get to keep just about everyone and especially the important ones!
Thanks for tagging someone who could help. We are excited to consolidate, to not have to worry about 3 tanks, and keep most of our fish. I've named each one, have gotten to know their personalities and will miss the ones we have to rehome. Thanks again, happy reefing!
