In preparation for the trip I fixed a few issues, and set up basic auto feeding.
The 4" LLS that I was using to control the top off failed after it was under water for a few hours when I redid the return plumbing. Ordered the larger replacements so that they would not go under water if the return pump was off. While I was ordering things I figured I might as well ensure that I had redundancy of all control sensors. So I added a second temp probe and second LLS for the sump level. This gives a primary control and a secondary monitoring/ out of bounds control. Also in the case of Temperature and PH allows me to have different measurement locations, so one set is in the sump the other set is in the overflow.
Was interesting to watch, My PH was hovering around 7.8 without dosing, 8.0 setpoint with kalk dosing before we left. Without the people and dog there the PH shot up to about 8.2 over 24hrs. and as you can see above the PH dropped similarly quickly when we got back.
I made a few small improvements to the slow feeder, namely a new more powerful air pump with two outlets so two bubble lines to keep the food in suspension better.
Added a basic cheep auto feeder to it, set to feed 3x a day. This and a tank sitter came by each day to target feed the corals.
After 10 days of running without stirring up the settled food, or cleaning, I was surprised to find very little buildup.
