Just as an aside is that Russel Crowe / Master & Commander? Cinemaphotography in that was amazing. I would love to have a 4K remaster of that but alas it isn't happening or so it would appear.
It's Russel Crowe in Les Miserables haha

Ah, ok. That is what I thought of anyway when I saw it :)
that is non other, than les mis haha

EDIT: newer comments hadn't loaded when I post this. I have seen les mis, only once. With a goth friend I met in college. Is there any other way to truly enjoy it?

Seeing the theatre show when a friend gets cheap as tickets because he'd gone and seen the stage show so many times they were giving him crazy cheap ticket options hahahaha

Looks awesome mate!!
Thanks @Wrangy ! In the tank is looking pretty good, now I got to clean up the equipment.

With the air bubbler? Seems to work great from what I've seen
Yeah it’s an air bubbler to keep the food in suspension, then a drip line feeds tank water in, fills up to above the first bulkhead and siphons out the top half inch or so.

Based on this design:

It's working decently well, the vessel is a little small, but I found out this setup only has enough head pressure to get just below the rim of this cup. so if the pump stops stops or is bumped out of the cup, the siphon breaks and needs to be restarted. Sorta a feature and a bug in that one. Feeding time is pretty variable, like 30min to 2 hours. Haven't totally isolated the variables, but food size, flow rate, bubbler placement all seem to have an effect. But overall this is quite serviceable. Trying to track down a decent autofeeder to feed it. Going on a trip and want to feed more than a tanksitter would be practical for, and this makes that easy.

I would like to build a larger one with more flow internally to keep the food in suspension longer, and dispense slower. Add that to the todo list for this tank. Got to mull over how best to address the head pressure issue and consider weight on the cross brace.

the corals are loving things:

When are the babies being added back?? 🥰
About 1 more month, planning on treating them after my trip next week. Got to get the fenben in still. on one hand I am not anxious, and am sorta like the longer I drag my feet the more diseases I will burn out in the display. On the other, I want so many new fish.

Sounds like a solid plan though, taking your time while you have the ability to is definitely the better option haha

Vacation went well. Meant to update the build with what I did before i left to prepare for me being away for over a week.

Overall fared very well, the glass on the right and sand at the front of the tank had a bit of a hair algae mat. I think this is from sunlight coming in through window in the room. Going to fully cover that side of the tank. Little TLC in order.

In preparation for the trip I fixed a few issues, and set up basic auto feeding.

The 4" LLS that I was using to control the top off failed after it was under water for a few hours when I redid the return plumbing. Ordered the larger replacements so that they would not go under water if the return pump was off. While I was ordering things I figured I might as well ensure that I had redundancy of all control sensors. So I added a second temp probe and second LLS for the sump level. This gives a primary control and a secondary monitoring/ out of bounds control. Also in the case of Temperature and PH allows me to have different measurement locations, so one set is in the sump the other set is in the overflow.

Was interesting to watch, My PH was hovering around 7.8 without dosing, 8.0 setpoint with kalk dosing before we left. Without the people and dog there the PH shot up to about 8.2 over 24hrs. and as you can see above the PH dropped similarly quickly when we got back.

I made a few small improvements to the slow feeder, namely a new more powerful air pump with two outlets so two bubble lines to keep the food in suspension better.

Added a basic cheep auto feeder to it, set to feed 3x a day. This and a tank sitter came by each day to target feed the corals.

After 10 days of running without stirring up the settled food, or cleaning, I was surprised to find very little buildup.

Vacation was amazing, week in Kona Hawaii, and a day in the bay area seeing family. Saw all sorts of amazing marine life in hawaii, sea turtles, manta rays, all sorts of reef fish, some amazing corallivores including a giant ornamental butterfly. Went to this aquarium featured on reef builders to see a bunch of mesophotic Hawaiian Endemics. Including this awesome Prognathodes.

Then during the day in the bay area we met with some family at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Got to see the new into the deep exhibit which was pretty amazing.

Thanks for sharing. One of the great joys of diving in Monterey is the kelp forests. Early morning beams of light at 110 feet is a pretty cool experience. They have some great exhibits there.
