Do you move "unhappy" corals to an isolated tank? Or do you try to addressing coral issues in the display?

If it has bacterial signs yes. Otherwise I leave it and let nature decide. Or I throw it in an invert coral cleaning station

I've had mixed results here. It really depends. I've moved them to my qt, moved them in the tank to a different spot, and done nothing. I can't say that any have been more successful than others.

If I'm going to do a treatment that requires me to remove the coral multiple times then it goes into the qt for easier access and less disturbance of the dt.

I could almost write a book on this topic with my opinions on this, but no one would read it. What I do would be different then what I might recommend another hobbyist do. Since I am obsessive about QT I can be extremely confident there isn't a pest organism that will be irritating things. I would lost to see if there was something physical that might be going on like a pump that is too close or a neighboring coral that might be attacking it. It may accelerate how soon I test.

I like anything sickly to chill in my coral cleaning station because the pests in there eat decay, bacteria and other pests

I have three corals - a pectinia, a torch, and a Duncan that all hate my DT.

I’ve tried to move them into it 3x now and all three times they’ve done well for a few days then start to close up.

It’s odd, because other than higher nitrates (almost 2x more), my parameters are nearly identical in both tanks.

That said, lights are different and flow is stronger. But I’ve messed around with different positions in the display tank and nothing seems to work.

I put them back in QT and it’s like magic - back to normal within a day

I've had to move a few sulky corals over the past few months, the Regal rescues tank. ;)
