At one point when I was breeding them I had gotten a bunch of free samples of Tigger pods from Reef Nutrition from a talk they did at a reef club meeting. I fed a fry that for a few days and they loved them but I ran out quick. I think just about any pod is going to be a superior food source but BBS is just so cheap and easy people tend to do that. The only recommendation I've read for them is brine shrimp.
Are there any other choices with demonstrated success?
Yes - thank you! I got interrupted & thought I had already added link when I hit post.I think Dexter meant to add a link to this thread:
Breeding the Banggai Cardinalfish in your Home Aquarium Introduction The Banggai Cardinalfish or Pterapogon kauderni is a species of cardinalfish endemic to a small area of Central Sulawesi Indonesia around the coasts of 33 islands in the Banggai Archipelago. They are a striking, hardy...humble.fish
As long as it's alive, OR if it's in a high flow environment and is small enough, I think that most feeds should work. That being said, andrewkw's not the only person who's experienced a ton of hard times converting the fish to dead food. Artemia just works because it's accessible and there's a short/small learning curve (as opposed to pods for example)
