Here’s some more pictures. They would be covered in spots though right?

No heavy breathing currently, they are swimming infront of powerheads though. I couldn’t get any of the big guys out to FW dip them…

Has anyone seen this condition: white growth along eye socket of black tang, probably only visible on a black fish. It’s been in 2.3ppm copper QT water for 10 days. Eating fine otherwise. Any idea on what this is and how to treat ? Thx

I may have asked you this before but... Can you transfer the fish into a separate observation tank after 14 days in therapeutic copper?

This explains in more detail: Explaining the 14 days in copper method

yes thx you did. unfortunately i dont have another observation tank. the plan was to treat 30 days. do a 100% water change + Cuprisorb for same tank and observe for 2-4 weeks before DT

white growth around eye seems to be fading so maybe bacterial in nature based on what i'd learned from this forum in the alst few weeks? if so i'd leave it in there to build strength in character :) thx

QT tank experiencing nitrite spike currently over 1ppm despite 100% water change 4 days ago. Would the fish be able to take this, or would need to do another nera 100% water chane? thx

Marine fish aren’t as negatively impacted by nitrites like freshwater fish are. That being said, elevated nitrites usually means that there is a delay in the nitrogen cycle completing. So, odds are you will also have an ammonia reading.

seachem ammonia badge stays mostly yellow. should i give it a few days to allow nitrogen cycle to complete instead of keep changing water? what would be the limit of nitrite level beyond which one should never push? thx

I would focus more on the ammonia level. Are you still using copper? If so, that could be causing false positive readings with the nitrites.

yeah the QT water is with 2.3ppm copper. i'm good so long as seachem ammonia badge stays largely yellow, and no need to stress over NO2 then?
Well, the quagmire is that alert badge isn't always 100% accurate BUT any other test kit won't work with copper in the water.

Supposedly the Hanna Ammonia Checker works with Cu in the water, but I've never tested it to be 100% sure: NEW INFO regarding Hanna Copper + Ammonia Checkers

ok thx. apart from reliability of ammonia tester key question for me here is NO2 should not be a key concern for saltwater is that fair assessment?
Yes, I don't worry about NO2 - especially in a fish QT.

I am primarily concerned with ammonia & pH in a fish QT. I don't even really worry about NO3.
