Well...Can ich develop out of stress?
My guess would be whatever you added last (Usually takes around 10-20 days for this to show up unless you are running UV) may have brought it in but no way to know. The last tang could have upset the balance though and caused the stress. So newly added fish that was dealing with fish aggression(Tangs) could have caused this?
Have you started peroxide dosing? That's probably your best option for treating ich in a reef. There are also herbal remedies (e.g. Herbtana, Artemiss) that are hit-or-miss. Or there's ozone, oxydator, diatom filter, and other management tools.Well it finally happened, lost my first victim. WhiteCheek died this morning. So I guess if this is ich do I just sit back and watch all my fish die? @Humblefish
Look here: The difference between ich & velvetI have been peroxide dosing for over six months but I wasn’t doing the overnight dosing. I started the overnight dosing again a couple nights ago. The Atlantic Blue Tang died this morning but he was soooo covered it didn’t even look like ich. I wonder if it’s velvet?
Possibly a mix of ich & velvet on that fish. (It's entirely possible for a fish to have BOTH.)If that’s the case then I do think this is velvet! It looks even worse in person.
