Crazy, so this is what you use over all your tanks?@Flippers4pups
@Count Krunk
FYI, I found this, which appears to be the same board that SBREEF sells. Even has the same description word for word as the SBREEF site.

@JCole, thank you so much! So glad those boards are available! I wouldn't use anything else!
They grow and color all coral, softies, LPS and especially SPS extremely well! Flipper approves!
No problem at all! So far, I really like them, and they complete the 400w Radiums well. I just added two more and now have a total of eight of the SBREEF boards along with four 400w Radiums. Hopefully, that combo will help to grow Acros.![]()
Looks good. Just missing a dash of ozone for that crystal clear water.Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
The system is doing well. I am seeing growth everyday and my 2-part is getting used up quickly. Will need to look into a CArx soon.
A quick walk around the tank
Looks good. Just missing a dash of ozone for that crystal clear water.that small tint of the water can cause a dramatic reduction in par AND spectrum. 20k look like 14k, 14k look like 10k, etc.
I'm no sps expert at all. I just know one night I unplugged the ozonator on my frag tank, and a millepora that had been doing great completely RTN'd.
Even though they are reliable, I want to get another for redundancy. It's become the most important equipment on any of my tanks.
I always notice leds make a tank look hazy or "muddy" vs. Halides only. Idk why. Maybe they just catch and reflect off the tiny particles more? It's on my list next to get. I plan to get one and installed by the end of the year. The tank isn't that cloudy as in the video. My phone always makes it seem worse than it is. I think its the glare from the lights.
I never ran Ozone on any of my tanks before so I will deffinetly reach out when the time comes.

very nice. Where did you get your copperband?
I've always thought, why TF does a skimmer need to be expensive, clear acrylic. If it works, it's not stupid!Happy New Year everyone!
One of my new years resolutions is to do more DIY items to the tank. Back in the day that is what we all did. It was rare I would buy anything that I couldn't build myself. Over the last couple of years, I find myself spending a ton of money on things I can make myself.
I have been looking at skimmers because the two skimmers I have just don't seem to be cutting it on the system. They either overflow quickly or dry skim very slow. Skimmers for the size of my system would cost $3-4,000. I started thinking of some DIY skimmers I could make. I started pricing large PVC and Acrylic and still found myself getting pricey.
I decided to try something out. It looks ghetto but this thing pulls skimmate out that makes my skimmers look like a joke. It is in my garage in my 300 stock tank sump do I don't care what it looks like as long as it works.
Built it for $30 minus the Jebao pump I had laying around. Meet the Venturi driven Bucket skimmer! This is my test run today. I took out my skimmate from my existing skimmer and dumped it in the test bucket. It pulled this out within 2 minutes.

I wipe all the skimmate out and you can see how it still comes pumping out

I took the collection cup and the foam looks good.

I ended up adding a third bucket on the bottom after the test run to add more dwell time. The final design is all glued and drying in the garage. I plan on turning this on in the system tomorrow to see what it can really do!
It might be ghetto but what do you all think?
