Your tank is gorgeous and your progress over the year is fantastic! I'm going to read back through your build thread to see what made you so successful. I really like your scape. I think I have similar shelf rock in my scape, is it Real Reef Rock?
Thanks! I know it's a man made one but I'm not sure which brand.

In Lisa's defense, I also waded into the muck to see what Brandon had available in his live sale. I think I made two comments and both were because I just wanted the sale to move along faster; those games are infuriating. Lisa reached out to me and opened up a private conversation so we could at least have some comfort in feeling "dirty" together.

Well... how are you doing this morning?
I added three more goni frags to my order; that's a total of ten new gonis from Brandon in the past week. 🥳
Now thats a lot of Gonis!!

Looking under my tank, the wires aren't organized THAT badly, but the issue I'm starting to see is bits of shiny salt on the plugs going into the outlets. My clownfish splash against the back of the tank sometimes, so I can see salt on the wall where the water has ran down. It doesn't appear to be coming from anything in the sump the way that's covered/set up. SO I went shopping again.

Supplies for my "don't start a fire" project:
  1. Blow-up pool noodle to fit behind the tank that will have a black towel over it. Being a blow-up noodle, it should allow me to get it to mold/fit perfectly in the space I want filling the gap between the wall and the tank right at the top of the stand. The black towel should absorb any clownfish splashes before it reaches any outlets below and it blend into my charcoal walls enough that you shouldn't even notice it's back there.
  2. An adaptive reef control panel thing, along with the wall mount. There is a perfect space next to my tank for this. I'm pretty excited about the idea of being able to easily get to all my stuff without having to climb under the cabinet! I know I could have DIYd one but I liked how this looked PLUS I'm already DIYing the pool noodle clownfish splash guard, so that's enough for me! Standard-Board-Front-Black-1000x1000__52490.jpg
  3. New surge protector power strips, a bunch of cable velcro ties, screws and double-sided tape to make it all stick.
All my new toys should be here Thursday (although fed ex means no one knows for sure). I'm weirdly excited for this!

I just got normal basic ones, nothing that fancy. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FLTTGYG/?tag=humblefish-20
I just chose that brand since it is the same as my backup batteries. 🤷🏼‍♀️
My powerheads and return pump are all wifi so I only ever turn them off that way. I'm not sure if I would use the individual switches at all. Feel free to convince me though. I like fancy stuff. 😂

It had been a month since I last saw my firefish. They went into hiding as soon as I added the scissortail and barred gobies. There was never aggression, the firefish just freaked. I saw them a couple of times then nothing for almost a month. I assumed they starved themselves.

Tonight, out of nowhere the smaller of the two showed up! He looks like crap. The rock he's been living under he's clearly been sharing with a lot of bristle worms. He has bristles all over his poor face and parts of his body, and he's a lot thinner than he used to be. But he's eating tonight!! Still hesitant about swimming around, but stayed out all night in front of his hole waiting for more food!!! 🥳 I'm so going to have extra algae after how much I fed tonight. After a couple of feedings, the bigger one showed up too! They're BOTH ALIVE! I think they knew I was eyeing the firefish over at Fishotel. I imagine being a bit overweight before this started helped them through this month in hiding. They're not scary thin, just not as thick as they were.

You'd hate my tank. Thousands, I am serious. Disturb the sand anywhere like 10 small ones float away. When I feed the fish they all come out, even in the light. I at some point they gotta be running out of food.
Oh my gosh, that makes my skin crawl

My don't start a fire supplies arrived yesterday!
20220922_210933.jpg

I realize now how old I am because just doing this, digging around behind my tank and I can hardly move today. Everything hurts!

All that salt on the wall is thanks to my clownfish who splash.
20220922_230305.jpg

I added these child protection guards over the outlets to minimize these from getting hit by any splashes.
20220923_183415.jpg

I shoved a blow up pool noodle (which was perfect because it molded to the exact shape I needed as I filled it) behind the tank and threw a towel over that to block splashes from getting to the outlets. Plus no more exposed power strips back there at all!

My next project (as soon as I can move) is to switch out my teal towel/glove rolling cart for the black one I just bought.

And just because, here is my new buddy. I just picked him/her up yesterday. ❤️

My zoas (and one blasto) arrived! The box was larger than my QT tank. Guess that means it's time to stop buying coral. 😳
20220928_112756.jpg

I love how they (zoanthids dot com) packed them. Very similar to Tidal Gardens with the foam insert inside the containers so that the coral isn't floating loosely around during shipping.
20220928_113729.jpg

I had planned to move my coral from aquashella (bought 7 weeks ago) into the DT yesterday but turns out that with the cooler temps outside, my tank temp has been at 78/79f again instead of 81, so I'm leaving everything in QT a bit longer. Guess that heater isn't turned up as high as I thought it was.

In other fun, I did a water change while dipping the new corals. I managed to knock the lid off the QT tank and break it. 😑 Luckily Fluval sells these directly from their site for only $18. Shipping was another $28 though so that part is less fun. The light still works so yay for that. I was tempted to swap out the whole lid/lighting for something better, but then I would have to deal with evaporation. I almost never have to add freshwater to these evos with the stock lid.

I will have to post photos when everything is open, but here is a quick shot to show off my zoa addiction.
