Most of my Black Friday shopping ended up being for the tank. I ordered some Python Squeeze syphon starters for super cheap. Cheap enough that I bought one for each tank...you know, to avoid cross-contamination...not because I lack self-control on deals. That $15 savings cost me another $200 or so on chewy buying dog and bird treats and toys too, but we're not going to talk about it.
Then Tidal Gardens went and had a sale. THERE IS NO ROOM IN THE QT TANK! Even the DT I just want to let what I have grow out. BUT A TIDAL GARDENS SALE!! /end-self-control.

Sooo, I ordered these.

The most important question now is how the heck am I going to fit more into my coral QT tank?! I have another week until my last batch of zoas gets moved to the DT.

Can you just ask for delayed delivery?

I got to move 18 zoa frags out of qt and into the DT tonight.

I normally leave them on the sandbed for a week or so to let them adjust to the stronger lights before gluing them to the rock, but Dollar the transparent cave goby is already burying them so I will have to glue them sooner than usual. I hoped putting them on the side of the tank he doesn't spend time in I could avoid this, but no luck. Sand free coral is like a beacon for him. 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

It's a good thing he's cute.

Oh... And here is happy Orange Finned Fred (Tomini tang) and some of his his buddies. He really completed my fish wishlist perfectly!
Lachri. Great fish and I have one of those also. Here is a few weeks ago when he was a baby. Much bigger now. But as the "expert" artist that you are I am sure those fins on your Tomini tang are not just plain "orange". They are a combination of all the warm yellows, reds, oranges and magenta's to make a tertiary color. 😁 (I just looked that up)

Would you say this guy does an alright job of keeping the top layer of sand stirred? Or is it just a coral burying fetish?

That's a good question. My sand is normally pretty clean so I'm not really sure, although it has been REALLY clean lately so it's entirely possible he deserves some credit. I will have to watch him later when the lights are on and report back.

You're totally right, but Orangish Yellowy Magenta Finned Faded to Charcoal Fred was quite a mouthful. Wait till yours is an adult, they get even prettier believe it or not! Their colors are striking! Pretty sure Orange Finned Fred stabbed one of my firefish a couple of days ago /facepalm. He appears to be healing well though luckily.

Another reef cleaners order is here and in QT :D
I got
  • 1 crowned turbo snail
  • 6 pitho crabs
  • 10 blue legged hermits
  • 3 bumble bee snails
  • 4 dwarf trochus
  • 3 money cowrie
  • 1 smooth turbo snail
  • 8 nassarius vibex
  • 5 lightning dove snails
  • 4 tongan nassarius

Once they're out of QT, lots of these guys are going into my fish observation tank that has an abundance of GHA.

Everyone acclimated well. I don't know if this is relevant, but it looks like reef cleaners are shipping some critters differently and have adjusted their instructions for acclimation. Hopefully, that works out better for the money cowrie. Those guys seem to be sensitive. If they make it the first couple of days they are fine so I suspect there were issues with the temp acclimation then plopping them in method previously advised.

The pitho crabs mowed through the nori I put in within an hour. One stored some on his head.

Nice bunch of new livestock you got there Lacri. :D
I watched a couple of your video's and am going to break out of my SteamPunk art a little to do a little painting through your lessons.

I have been painting all my life but I realize bedrooms don't count. I do paint portraits but sometimes my Supermodel portraits look like Whoopy Goldburg. I am working on it. Thanks.
