Rodi and Asw..........iffff your TDS with well water is not going to burn through di resin like no tomorrow! If it does, can you produce rodi from tank water instead? I would imagine the starting TDS may be much lower than with well water.
It is a possibility but rainwater is more of precious commodity over underground water at our farm. In saying that the tds of the bore water is 500ish, reef pure said their 5 stage will do it but at the cost of needing to service and replace the resin and membranes every 3 to 6 months. But that's really the same cost as the 250km round trip to get the nsw and rodi that I currently do at the moment

You can recharge your resin -- I have done it for years. You can recharge about 4-6 times. Every time you get a little less.

I feel tired just reading that link! This is not a solution for lazy Aussies! 🤣
Its literally adding one chemical, dumping it off and then adding a second.

Once you start paying for resin you will be back visiting this post!

If I was on well water like Laus I'd agree with that.

But I'm on one of the best city water supplies in Aus, so I'm not going to be burning through much resin at all.

For how often I'll need to change resin, it won't be worth the effort. Especially as the first tank I'm starting is only 35 gallons.

What if you use over 20-55 gallons a day like me? Ugh... I hate changing resin.. I burn it up so fast too....

Lucky for me we are also on pretty solid water so its not to terrible, it's just the quantity that I burn through is silly.

Good news, no fittings have leaked overnight so we are good!
Filled it up with nsw and the art reef rock that I had originally got for my waterbox, the rock has being a in a friends frag system sump since like January. It's got sponges on it and life so it's on its way to being mature rock.
I do need like a quarter of a bag of more sand if I want to get a good even coverage of it and obviously more rock, probably branching live rock but for now the cycle can start

So cycle is kicking along, added one dose of aquaforest mud and a couple of cubes of food at the start, getting more rock tomorrow so I can finally aquascape and starting to see diatoms on the sand

Next debate is water movement,
I have a reefwave 25 and a Nero 3, the Nero is being obnoxiously loud so I'm not sure I want to keep using it.
Now I need more wave makers but undecided on what to use, do I get another reefwave? Or do I go more traditional wave makers and just use the one reefwave?
