Question about chloroquine… If I am using chloroquine for main QT (14 days) procedure:
  • Is the 14 days (once every 2 days) of metronidazole necessary?
  • What about Prazi 2 times 6 days apart?
  • I think I understand and oral general cure for 14 days mixed with food and focus is indicated for internal parasites/worms. Is this right?
I’m glad you asked this. I was about to ask the same exact thing!!! To the same exact person🤣

Personally, I save the medicated food for observation tank. You can over-medicate sometimes. I feel like that is the case for alot of fish deaths in QT other than ammonia. A lot of medicating is observing. Fish placed in new a qt have at least a day or two where treating for ich or velvet can be delayed to observe, and ensure the fish is eating, and behaving normally. Urenema can be tough. I've not had any issues there, but it can kill pretty quickly with few symptoms. I don't like the idea of dropping fish straight into 2.0pp. Copper Power as advised, but it seems to work well. I even ramp up chloroquine. Dosing every 12 hours until target level is reached. Whether it be 40mg/gal. On a newly setup qt, 60-80mg/gal. For infested fish. Or, the daily dosing method for an established QT. I don't mess with established QT. Just bleach and reseed each time.

Wow! I'm a little stuck in the old times, and scoff at what fish, and especially coral costs. $90 is really proce gouging. Especially if they aren't QT'd by a reputable vendor.
These aren’t even quarantined!!!! Lol!!! And this dealers reputation is questionable. I used them a little bit in 2009-2012, but haven’t tried them since. Their livestock wasn’t terrible back then. Liveaquria’s prices have gone up a good amount too. I remember when the Hawaii band first took place. They were price gouging like crazy!!! Especially on Yellow Tangs. I think they were listing them around 500.00. Highway robbery for sure.

Jeez! Well, next time I see then, I'm scoooooping up a decent load. Also, they have no interest in biting me. Can't say the same for most other damsels or clowns. Ugh. I hate that so much. About to give away these damsel I have.
Clowns are evil😂‼️ I haven’t the slightest clue how they got their cute little reputation. The last two I had would viciously attack me once my hand went in the tank. Didn’t matter where I was working, the whole tank was theirs. If I wasn’t paying attention, the female would bite me right between the web of my fingers. There was no shooing her away. She would attack repeatedly. Very annoying. She wound up in the Casa de la sump. What’s strange is if I had gloves on, she wouldn’t mess with me. Guess she just had a taste for flesh🤣. Here’s a picture of her.

Unless @Dierks Or @Humblefish knows of an issue mixing them. Metronidazole is listed as an antibiotic on medical websites, so I would assume it could mayne help with bacterial degradation.
i think this would be okay, I have had no ill effects from metro. I agree if I was doing Chromis or in this case the Damsels I would hit them so hard with meds it would make a lot of peoples heads spin right off! I dont play around with Uronema no more.

@JCTReefer My wife today asked if we can trade out big clown fish in for baby ones again. She said the small ones are so much cuter... In the back of my mind I was thinking "And not as big of 🍆s!" They do have a sweet reputation, but they are absolute terroirs. I mean they are Damsels... Yet, I dont think I could give mine up, why do we do this to ourselves?!

Kinda funny, but not really!!!! Mine were good for the first year. Then it was on after that. Female initiated the behavior. Then the male followed suite. Sucks really they where beautiful gladiator clowns. The male mysteriously died. Came home and it was dead on the substrate. It wouldn’t surprise me if the female didn’t do him in. I wound up getting rid of the female. Felt terrible about it, but I’d had enough. Guess she got the best of me. She’d really piss me off.🤣
