Man alive!

So you did the EDNA Test and it came back 100% clean? Also where you dosing H2O2 when you got the clean results? I am starting to wonder if the H2O2 is messing with the test results.
Yes, it only came back with Perkinsus that effected mollusks. I was still dosing H2O2 when I sent off the test. I didn't really stop early November when we started cleaning up the tank and added the clean up crew.

No doubt it will, samples should not be taken with peroxide in the water. Either before dosing starts or after it has been discontinued.

Okay Thank you for the clarification - I am mentally taking notes on all of these

I am really sorry to hear!, i’ve also had my share of issues, and often it doesn’t makes sense. Then you look at your local hobbyist groups and there are hundreds of people adding fish with no QT almost weekly with no problems lol, makes you wonder wth.

I think even pausing h2O2 for only 36 hours (maybe less), would be enough for all H2O2 to be gone, in case it is causing trouble with the eDNA Test

I had not dosed the AM dose when I did the tests. It was my understanding that peroxide breaks down in between the doses. I wasn't doing the overnight dosing since there was only one fish, so it had been 8 hours. It is good to know for future tests though.

Sucks so bad, but I think I would be in the same camp as where you are now. So heartbreaking but when the tank is clean and the fish are healthy it will be so worth every painful moment. I wish I could come help you @bryanr

Yeah man I can't wait for that time. My local fish store is talking with one of his guys out of the florida store to see if they can come up with another plan other than taking the tank down. Possibly Hypo.....but i still want all the fish out regardless.

If you are pulling all the fish why not just nuke it with Formalin? Or is this a full-blown reef? Or you could even do the milder 10 day treatment with Formalin... You can keep your fish in the tank with a 10-day formalin treatment. I know the last thing you want to do is invest more money into something that "Might Work."

It's a FOWLR, so I could use Formalin....I'll mention it to the guy I'm working with at the local store. He mentioned polyp lab medic, but it's just peroxide salt from what I understand.

Correct - I do this treatment on all my fish so if you need guidance please let me know.

Well, after a talk with my local fish store I switched from Peroxide dosing to Polyplab Medic (supposedly it's peroxide salt). I must say I'm pleasantly surprised. I started dosing Saturday around 3pm. I put 15 scoops into the tank (1 scoop per 50g) and then did the same around 12:30am before I went to bed. I have since been dosing the 15 scoops (5 per lid section) around 9:30am right as the lights come on and then around 10:30pm after the lights go out. Today the yellow tang has no visible spots and the purple tang has is looking much better. Not sure if i'm in a break in the ich cycle or if Medic works better for me than dosing 3% peroxide.

Goal is still having the fish store get the 3 fish out and into QT, but i'm in QT after being exposed to Covid so they can't come over for another week. So this was kinda a shot in the dark.

Thanks. I'm fine just another delay, but allows me to change media in the QT's to ensure they are ready for the fish. Figure wrasse in one and two tangs in the other.

The Purple has less spots, but he is pretty beat up. Yellow I can't see any visible...but I'm sure there are some. Wrasse never shows any signs, but obviously has to have some. Of course the 4 bottles more of the Polyp lab medic aren't arriving today like they were supposed to.....I should have enough until Friday AM's dose, but hopefully it arrives tomorrow.

Well the Purple tang was out swimming this morning and I thought it was looking better....this afternoon it's sucked onto the mp60 dead. I assume it was trying to get more oxygen swimming into the flow and got sucked in.

Well I don't want to jinx it, but the Yellow Tang seems to be doing well, he is back out swimming and eating. I'm doing the 20 day dose of Polp Labs Medic and it seems to be working where the 3% peroxide dosing didn't. It's 15 scoops of the Medic for my tank 2x a day. I wonder what concentration of peroxide it puts into the water (I'll have to do some tests). I have 4.5 more days left of dosing, then it says to run carbon. My concern is the life cycle of ich I can't see the medic totally getting rid of it. So my plan is still to get the two fish out (hopefully this week since my fish guy can be around me now)

Well it has been 9 days since I stopped dosing Polyp Lab Medic. Yellow Tang and Wrasse are still in the tank (My fish guy has been sick), but no signs of ich. I'm actually surprised, but the plan remains the same....fish out for a true Fallow period and then I will add some Mollies. I have two QT tanks so I figure after i do the HTTM for the two remaining fish, I can break down one tank and slowly acclimate some FW Sailfin Mollies in the second QT after a through cleaning. They will go into the tank for a month or so before I add anything else again.

Well I just ordered two more aquabiomics kits. It's been 30 days since I stopped treating with Polyp Lab Medic and while it goes fallow wanted to test it to see if it has anything else besides ich. Ordered two kits so I can run another test on the 225 that had ich as well. I stopped dosing on the 225 a couple weeks back.

Well fish are still in the tank (55 days) still no sign of ich or scratching etc. My fish guy was diagnosed with colon cancer so I have no idea when he will be back doing house calls. So right now I will do the aquabiomics tests and if it comes back clean i will acclimate a couple of Sailfin Mollies to Salt. Is the best process a saltwater drip bucket to bucket with heater and airstone or a tank setup with sand and freshwater and add salt slowly via water changes?
