This is my Frag tank journal.
July-2020

Planning a small QT tank for coral. Lots of indo coming in and I am worried these pieces will carry pests. So I will be building a small QT tank to host coral for couple months before I move it to the display.
I will also use this tank, if successful to host DBTC and pay it forward frags.

Tank: innovative Marin 25G lagoon AIO
Light: Radion XR15 G5 pro. Starting with one, will see what happen down the line
Filtration:
- while still debating between zeo or fug, I have ready chatos reactor(modified my avast zeo reactor and turned it in to a chatos reactor).

- Also have zeovit reactor ready to kick in when needed.

- activated carbon and rowphos through 2 dedicated reactors.

- Skimmer for now is none, but thinking of either adding the IM ghost desktop skimmer or even a sump+skimmer down the line.

- Added a 1/10 hp chiller as heat is my biggest fear here(setting this in the garage for now, will see if I can pull it off)

ATO: for now I got a smart ATO micro. Looks neat. The good thing is that the tank sits next to my mixing station so there will be plenty of fresh and salt water source.

Flow: will either have 1 mp40 or 2 mp10s

Today I got the tank, the ATO from my LFS Neptune aquatics.

One last thing, I was debating if I simply connect this tank with my display(my display is plumbed to the garage where I have the chiller and the water reservoir, but I felt it will defeat the purpose of QT, also introduce the risk of bringing in issues (contaminates, heat..etc) from the garage to my dt which clearly is not good idea
This is where the tank will sit. I have a storage shelves in the garage that I will use for this.

Some progress today.
Plumed the ATO
Added the 2nd pump to be used for chiller and chaeto or zeo reactor
Added my spare mp40..its going to be an overkill, so will look in to getting a used or new mp10.
Some electric work
Am so not used to such small work area in a tank lol. This tank bit challenging in term of pumps sizes..
Waiting on the light, chiller and garage insulation.

My DIY chaetos reactor.
Converted my zeo vibe to a chaetos reactor using cheap led strip.
Relocated one clown fish to the system. Am doing so cause I started with live rocks and filled the tank from my dt water.

- Rearranged electrical..
- Reactor and skimmer online
- Khg+dosing stations online
- Modified the chaetos reactor to address thermal fear. So far effective snd heating is radiated outward through the aluminum. It also served me in reducing the light leack outside the reactor.
Controller and the LED/T5 hybrid should arrive tomorrow.
I also ordered GHL propeller 3.0 fan. This thing is awesome, 5 fans, aluminum body controllable fan speed through the P4 controller..elegant too..
Tank is cycling nicely and going through the diatom phase. I anticipate the green algae phase will be in the coming couple days. And hopefully I can add coral in a week or 2 at the most..

Ghl is setup. Initial setup took 15min. Then to prob calibration another 15min. Then programing the 6 outlets 10min..
Done.
Check how long the cables on these probs. As an electrical engineer I really appreciate the fact that their probs has such long wire, yet reading accuracy and stability is flawless.
This thing come packed with functions out of the box. No silly modules and wires everywhere, just one box does it all..

The T5/LED fixture is up.
I went with 2 coral plus and 2 KZ super blue. Paired with the radion AB+ the color blend is very nice..

I added some more dry rocks along side the live rocks and the 2 siporax bags.
It should be enough surface area for the bio filtration.
Also added ine of my urchins to have at the brown algae, he seems happy and eating it up..
Now just a waiting game.
Am hoping early next week we start seeing the green algae phase..

The diatom and brown algae started breaking down and disappearing.
You gotta love zeovit. Within 10 to 12 days you can start adding fish and coral. The fastest cycle I deal with is zeovit cycle..

Brown algae phase seems to be done(almost). Test coral frag went in the system.
Parameters stable, heat seems to be under control with the fans and the chiller.

Got my ATI kit. Marine depot shipping speed is awesome.
Wow these things are concentrated..dose will be very small and these bottles will last long for sure..
Got the nutrients also just in case. Also got their test kit to try it and see how ot stacks up against Triton. I remember in the past it was not good. But will give it another try and see..

On the ATI bottles they have the details of whats in the bottle.
This is whats in the essentials pro
