Red Sea Rostatos Red Sea Max Downgrade

Users who are viewing this thread

I need to tent my house for termites soon and had to downgrade my Reefer 450 into something I can move out of the house when it’s tented.

“Mother Tank” build thread Red Sea - Rostatos Reefer 450

So, I give you the Red Sea Max Nano

Picked this bad boy up used and very dirty. Here it is all cleaned up with some stuff drying u see the light.

Also picked up an AI Nero 3 wave maker from Top Shelf Aquatics. I want this on the back wall providing some anti flow to the return port, but wasn’t 100% confident that the dry side magnet was reef safe. So I double bagged it with my impulse dealer. I give you the magnet condom…

Here is the installed location. I think it worked well. Should hopefully not kill my tank🤞🏼I think I’ll do the same for the heater pride as well. You barely can see the bagged magnet on the left side of the picture.

I also installed a Tunze nano ATO and innovative marine 5g ATO container. You can see in the pic where I drilled some shelf pin holes so that I can build a “control bamoard to maximize space and keep everything under the cabinet

The goal is to be able to drain the tank, move coral, fish and and water to separate containers, unplug the stand and move in one shot.

Looking forward to watching this one mate!! The sponges don't as mechanical filtration at the start of the 'sump' but I wouldn't run the sponges in the other sections as they can cause issues if they clog quickly and you don't notice. I always remove sponges aside from if it's filtering water initially like a filter sock (which the nano has doesn't it? Making the sponges completely pointless lol)

Apparently they help with micro bubbles, but I doubt they are necessary.

There is a filter sock section, but I plan to use floss and a media cup instead.

Agree with this, recently had sponges clog the back of an aio and it caused issues with my ato, salinity dropped and the tank almost overflowed.
