I wanted to follow up this story. HF and I have been chatting about this fish and I have decided to take him in. When HF sends out my up coming order this fella will be coming to live with us. Looking forward to adding him to my tank with allot of his new tank mates.

I'll be honest, from what we have been talking about this guy seems almost fully rehabilitated. Believe me pics will come up once he is here and in the tank. But we are almost a week away from that.

Yup, I'm pretty sure he has at least partial eyesight now. He takes food out of the water column, eats nori from a clip and even begs for food when he sees me. :D I also caught him chasing away a cardinalfish the other day, so I think he's going to be just fine with @KenB

I think with time his eyesight is slowly being restored. I did hand feed him a lot in the beginning, and he's being housed with small, non-aggressive fish who won't outcompete him for food. But he's becoming annoyed with the "sissy fish" now and chases them a little. So, he's acting more like a tang. :D

Great news! It is fun to see a once timid fish or in this case - a somewhat disabled fish showing some sass! He needs an appropriate name.

Well, I talked to my wife about this and she came up with the name Purple Haze or Haze for short.. so there we go. In case some folks don’t get it..It’s a Jimmy Hendrix song Purple Haze.

So this needs to be his background song, when you post the first video of him swimming in your tank!

He just needs a little Lasak surgery. I can do that if his insurance covers it. If not, I will fix him anyway.
I believe some worms with excellent eyesight will cure him.

That happens to "puffers"all the time and it normally comes from being in too bright a light for to long. The sight returns after a few weeks.

It doesn't normally happen to tangs but I guess that fish doesn't know that..

He ships out tomorrow, so I've been giving him a little extra TLC before he leaves me. Kinda got attached to this fish. He's begging near the top of the tank like all the fish do, and seems to have no difficulty eating food right out of the water column. So, my guess is his eyesight is now at least partially restored.

I'll take a little video when I go back into the retail room.

Is it true brine is weak. No nutrition and shouldnt be fed? I feed mysis and brine switching back and forth. And I throw in lrs fish frenzy but the big chunks kid of push me away I try to suxk out the small pieces for my fish. But if brine is not good. I wont purchase it anymore since my sf bay brine is almost gone

It's a good starter food for fish in QT, to entice them to begin eating. The Hikari brand is fortified with spirulina algae to make it more nutritious: http://www.hikariusa.com/reptile_folder/fr_spirulina_brine_shrimp.html
