Why would this be better than OP updating the first post?
Ease of navigation instead of having to hunt all over the forum for stickies in various places. Each article can also have “related topics” links to help guide you to other stuff that might be relevant (like when you go down a Wikipedia rabbit hole).

Basically, would be meant to enhance the existing structure, but if you never used it, it wouldn't change anything about how you currently experience the forum. It would just be helpful for those who wanted it.

Hi Bobby, @Humblefish hope you had a peaceful Christmas and Happy New year to you and your family.

I appreciate that you have already something similar in the header menu "Useful Links".

I personally regard the collection of research and articles,( audio visual and written,) that yourself and other members have accumulated over time can now be regarded as a professional resource. As a collected works it is in my opinion an excellent resource which attains scientific credibility. But more importantly one that is presented in a manner that makes it widely accessible to a broader audience than any academic resources.

The nature of my suggestion is more to do with accessibility by means of simple navigation.

I would love to read a book (online or in print). that specifically covers animal husbandry in the aquarium hobby. A holistic approach, a collaboration between your self, Paul B and Lasse come to mind. Although an unlikely situation, I would love to be a fly on the wall to watch the baking of that cake. The three amigos :giggle:

This being a forum , I would like to apologise in advance if I left out any other excellent contributors names. These where just 3 that came to mind. 125 Amigos just doesn't have the same ring to it. :)

@smsreef - so like Jessica mentioned we would still have both options once we get some of these things down the road.
Threads would still be open for total discussion of a subject.

But the reason some threads might be locked as a reference topic is so the info doesn't get derailed etc.
So say Bobby posts a thread "How to Deflate a Puffer that Can't Deflate"
If he posts it as a locked sticky, he can still go back, unlock it & update/edit it.

But if it he leaves it open for replies, someone else might go in & type something incorrect or harmful. When forums grow, that's what can happen. So some threads are most efficient it they are stickied & locked.
So in the example above, any member can post another thread to discuss or ask questions.

Reference type sections (like @Sustainable Marine) is mentioning or locked stickies also help new members see where to look for expert information. Also for someone experienced researching they can quickly go through the reference articles.

So someone like yourself (smsreef) easily can read through & see what info is valid or who is a good source. But for newer members it gets confusing & overwhelming.

Maybe a more realistic compromise would be a series of Youtube debates/discussions (or something similar) on various subjects. :)

Believe it or not, I personally hate quarantining. It's the worst part about this hobby. But until somebody can explain to me the nuts & bolts of "just don't worry about it" I don't know what else to do.
