The spikes are me manually dosing to try to correct the curve.

Yes. I recalibrate the kh guardian yesterday because the alk drop 2 days ago seemed false, but it wasn't. I've also been double checking with api and salifert. I can slow it down if I unhook the co2 scrubber and let pH fall down to 8.2. I disconnected it for tonight. This ain't your daddy's soda sorb though. It scrubs 100% of the co2. Only co2 comes from the ambient air and from coral at night. Of I close the a/c vents, that tank easily hits 8.8pH. (Yes, that probe is accurate too) a tank will take a ton of kalkwasser, so idk what that guy did.(I don't listen to podcasts) but I'd guess too much, too fast.
He just kept dosing (2 part) based on some faulty testing even though the amounts were ridiculous and made no sense and caused some major issues in his tank.

Oh, well that's why I have 3 api alk kits and a salifert on top of the kh guardian. The khg will also retest if the result is out of range to double check.

I gave away like a square foot of purple rim monti today. I just need to slow this down a little. 😆
I finally moved mine to my display a month or so ago. The people rim is becoming more pronounced, but it still doesn't show up very good under daylight spectrum, and you can't see it in blues. I think purple is a tough color to show without warm whites. Well see how it progresses. You almost can't distinguish it from the rock.

It's getting decent light and flow so well see what it does.

Well, I'm glad someone else likes it. I just think it's the main culprit in my disappearing alk. Ha I'll keep a small 2" piece and a few frags and start again.

Idk what's going on, but I dosed 6dkh worth of kalk slurry today, and lost 1.7dkh on top of that! If I used saturated kalk, I'd be at about 13 gallons for a 250 gallon system. @OZ_SPS how hard is it to set up the Khg to dose Sodium bicarb as a failsafe if alk goes too low?
It should be easy. Thats what I did for a while.

These alk variation are strange. If you trust the measurement, which seems that you do, have you checked the additives itself? IA it possible you dealing with bad batch?

The kalk is fine. looking better today so far. mag was down to 1200, dosed that up to 1300 and i diluted the slurry to be about 2x as strong as saturated, settled kalk. about half strength as i was using.
